Drug Monograph: Ponstel / Mefanamic Acid
Mefenamic acid and meclofenamate are members of the anthranilic acid (fenamate) group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Meclofenamate sodium is the sodium monohydrate salt form of meclofenamic acid. Mefenamic acid was approved by the FDA in March 1967. Meclofenamate was FDA-approved in June 1980.
