According to study results which appeared in the April 2007 issue of Arthritis & Rheumatism, gabapentin may be an effective treatment for symptoms associated with fibromyalgia.
Drug Monograph: Neurontin / Gabapentin / Gabarone
Gabapentin is an oral anticonvulsant. Gabapentin was developed as a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) agonist and is an analog of GABA. Gabapentin is used to control partial seizures in adults with epilepsy. It is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain. Gabapentin medicine may also be used for other purposes.
