While the results in our first Phase III trial did not achieve a p-value of less than or equal to 0.05, we believe the results support continued development of milnacipran as a treatment for FMS. The ongoing development program for milnacipran includes an ongoing second Phase III study and an additional third Phase III study, from Cypress Bioscience.

In experimental studies Milnacipran showed useful activity as adjunct in the therapy of Fibromyalgia and Lupus, both conditions with potentially devastating effects. In January 2006, Forest Pharmaceuticals and Cypress Bioscience agreed to commence a phase III multicenter study encompassing 1,200 patients with Fibromyalgia.
