Several forms of gold are available. When rheumatologists talk about gold they are usually referring to the injectable forms of gold salts: gold sodium thiomalate (Myochrysine) and aurothioglucose (Solganal). There is also an oral tablet that contains gold, auranofin (Ridaura); however, this preparation is distinct from the injectable forms, and is much less effective, from ACR.
