Study results indicate that fibromyalgia patients treated with Cymbalta (duloxetine) experienced greater reduction in pain severity one week after starting the medication compared to patients receiving placebo. At 3 and 6 months, patients on Cymbalta also showed improvement in how they felt overall since starting the medication when compared to placebo.

Cymbalta Effective For Women With Fibromyalgia, But Not Men
Cymbalta (duloxetine) has been approved by the FDA. Cymbalta targets two chemical messengers in the body, serotonin and norepinephrine. According to a report in the journal Arthritis & Rheumatism, Cymbalta seems to be effective in treating the symptoms associated with fibromyalgia in women, but not in men.
