What is an Arthritide?

Definition: Arthritides is the plural of arthritis. There are over a 100 types of arthritis and someone can have more than one of them.

You have an arthritide when you have one of the types of arthritis. These can prove to be real stumper terms even for medical students.

Here are some examples:
Example: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common of the arthritides.
Example: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) can be a debilitating arthritide.

Note: The word "arthritide" is also a now obsolete term for a skin eruption from arthritis or rheumatic origins.

Pronunciation: ar-thri-tide (it is pronounced arthridity) ar-thrit-i-des
Common Misspellings: arthurtide arthirtides arthritises arthritti
Examples:
Another example: My doctor spent time carefully reviewing the signs and symptoms of each arthritide.
