Statins are a class of drugs used to treat high cholesterol. Statins have also been studied for their effect on the inflammatory process and on the immune response. Since statins are known to induce apoptosis (cell dealth) in both normal and tumor cells, what affect would statins have on the proliferation of synovial tissue which occurs in rheumatoid arthritis?
