Lower Mortality: Obese or Thin Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients?

You may think the answer is obvious, but think again. A team of researchers from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center reported that obese and overweight patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) had "paradoxically lower death rates than normal weight or thin RA patients." The result was clearly unexpected. Read MedPage Today for details. The researchers warned that the findings were preliminary and should not serve as a recommendation for weight gain or weight changes in people with rheumatoid arthritis.
