NPR.org has reported that diclofenac is one of the world's most popular NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). That is the case, despite the fact that diclofenac is just as likely to cause a heart attack as Vioxx, the drug pulled from the market in 2004.
Diclofenac actually outsells ibuprofen, naproxen, and other NSAIDs in 15 countries. Compared to taking no NSAID, diclofenac increases the risk of heart attack by 40%. The least risky NSAID is said to be naproxen, in case you wondered.

Here’s a link to the NPR article. Is there a safe NSAID? They all have issues and their benefits must be weighed against the risks. Naproxen offers virtually no relief for me, for example, no matter the dose.
