Hip pain can be a vague symptom. With the initial onset of hip pain, you may experience limited range of motion and quickly realize that movement increases your level of pain. But the cause may not immediately be obvious -- and you may be unsure if self-treating the pain is advisable.

Hip pain can either be acute or chronic. Acute hip pain typically is associated with an injury. Chronic hip pain is tied to an ongoing condition, such as arthritis. Learn more about causes of hip pain and your treatment options in Hip Pain - What You Should Know.
