Approximately 8.3 million adults in the U.S. have gout. Over the past few decades, the prevalence of gout has increased. The increased prevalence of gout has been linked to comorbidities associated with hyperuricemia.

Gout is very painful. It's important to get the condition under control. Researchers have developed a two-part set of guidelines which educate patients about preventing gout attacks.
