World Arthritis Day was first established in 1996 by Arthritis and Rheumatism International. Each year on this day, people living with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases are recognized, more awareness is brought to the disease, and there are campaigns which inspire people living with arthritis. This year's theme is "Move to Improve" which emphasizes the importance of exercise and remaining physically active.
I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1974. One of the first articles I wrote was "Surviving the Loss of Oneself." If you have arthritis or a related condition share your story on our forum. If you have been recently diagnosed, view the following resources, too.
