World Arthritis Day, established in 1996 by Arthritis and Rheumatism International, is a day of events held each year on October 12 to bring awareness to rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. Arthritis patients from around the world join together to make their voices heard on this day. This year's theme is Move to Improve, emphasizing the importance of exercise and staying active with arthritis.
The World Arthritis Day website will continue to promote Move to Improve beyond just this one day. You can go to the website and pledge to move to improve. You can also follow along with their Activity of the Month. The activity for September/October 2011 is cycling.
