Fish oil, used as a dietary supplement, is derived from cold-water fish (mackerel, salmon, tuna, herring, halibut, cod). Fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) that reduce inflammation. It is known to lower triglycerides, lower blood pressure, and have a protective effect against heart disease -- among other health benefits.
While fish oil is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, Raynaud's phenomenon, and depression -- effectiveness has not been established for all of these conditions. Before taking fish oil, discuss the supplement with your doctor -- especially if you take NSAIDs. Hi, sorry if this doesn’t relate to arthritis. But I just bought a Glucosamine 750 Chondroitin 600 2 in one GNC. Am wondering as much as there is so much about it helping the knees, can it help with my wrist as well?
Pls. help
Sincerely appreciated
My pdoc advised me to take fish oil bid. As to whether is was to counteract a med I take, for my depression or for cardiovascular health – I can’t say – I didn’t ask either.
Patrick…this comment section pertains to the Fish Oil article but to answer you…I can’t say I have seen studies done on glucosamine specifically for the wrist. Best to discuss with your doctor.
