A sedentary lifestyle is not healthy. For arthritis patients, being sedentary is definitely not the way to go. A sedentary lifestyle means you are sitting or resting most of the time. Due to physical limitations, arthritis patients often get discouraged regarding their ability to maintain regular physical activity. People with arthritis sometimes don't exercise because they believe they can't do enough to make a difference. According to data from a national health survey, which included over 6,000 people diagnosed with arthritis, reported in the May 2006 issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine -- 37% of people with arthritis get no exercise.
