Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune inflammatory type of arthritis affecting over 2.1 million Americans. The joints are primarily affected by rheumatoid arthritis but organs may also be involved. Rheumatoid arthritis affects people differently. Some people have mild to moderate disease process while other people have severe forms of the disease that can lead to joint damage, serious systemic problems, chronic pain and fatigue, disability, and deformities.
