Gout Risk Factors
Gout is one of the most painful rheumatic diseases. Gout results from deposits of needle-like crystals of uric acid in connective tissue, joint spaces, or both. These deposits lead to inflammatory arthritis, causing swelling, redness, heat, pain, and stiffness in the joints.
What is a gout risk factor? A risk factor increases your chances of developing gout but it is not certain that you will develop gout. A risk factor is not a direct cause of the disease but a risk factor can be associated in some way with developing gout. Learn more about Gout Risk Factors.
