World Arthritis Day 2006 - "Take Action"
"Take Action" is the theme of this year's World Arthritis Day, observed October 12. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), 43 million adults in the United States have doctor-diagnosed arthritis. As baby boomers age, the prevalence of arthritis is expected to rise. The CDC reports that by 2030 an estimated 67 million of Americans aged 18 years or older will have doctor-diagnosed arthritis.

The benefits of exercise as part of a treatment program for managing arthritis are well-known and documented. However, over one-third of people with arthritis get no exercise. "Take Action" is aimed at encouraging people with arthritis to exercise. As part of World Arthritis Day, participate in the brief Take Action Survey which asks questions about arthritis and exercise.
