Arthritis Pain May Be Soothed By the Power of Touch

Arthritis pain can be so debilitating that the idea of being touched can cause a person to cringe. The fearful response to someone coming close can occur like a reflex action. Yet it's a contradiction. People are soothed by the power of touch. Gentle snuggling can actually make a person feel better.

People with arthritis benefit physically and emotionally from the touch of another person, as does anyone. With honest communication they can express their needs to their partner. They can communicate how they are feeling and what might make them feel better. Communication improves intimacy between partners. If you let it, arthritis can interfere.
