Diclofenac Gel Relieves Pain From Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Thursday December 22, 2005
Rubbing on gel which contained diclofenac provided significant pain relief from osteoarthritis of the knee in a study of 230 patients over a three week period, according to German researchers. Diclofenac is the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication in Voltaren and Arthrotec (oral NSAIDs). Study results, which appeared in the Journal of Rheumatology, concluded that diclofenac gel was effective and safe for relief of symptoms associated with knee osteoarthritis.

I found Voltaren emulgel effective for joint inflammation when I was in south Africa. Too bad you can’t buy it over the counter here in the States.

I believe diclofenac gel is available for a skin condition but not yet for arthritis pain in the U.S. Your pharmacist may know more.

Your doctor will give you a prescription for the gel. A bit expensive but well worth it!!!
