Febuxostat: New Gout Drug More Effective Than Standard Drug
Monday December 5, 2005
Febuxostat, a new treatment for gout, is at least twice as effective at lowering uric acid levels than allopurinol. Study results about febuxostat came from the largest and longest trial of gout drugs ever conducted. When febuxostat will be FDA approved is not known but it would be the first new medication for gout in more than 40 years. Read the press release about febuxostat from the 2005 American College of Rheumatology meeting.

how soon new drug febuxostat will be approwed ……..
I have been 5 years on the survey and have been great for all this time….when will the drug be available so I do not have to worry about one a month attacks
I searched for the answer and found this article which states,”Febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, and pegylated uricase are new agents under development and may be beneficial in these situations or when other comorbid conditions prevent the use of conventional treatments.” So,this is from July/Aug PubMed and it says “still under development.”
I have heard febuxostat is available in taiwan ,can anyone confirm if thats true and if anybody has any idea where ? ( I am in taipei )
Here is the latest info I’ve seen about Febuxostat:

Perhaps writing to one of the contacts at Ipsen would provide an answer about availability.
