Tylenol for Arthritis: Popular Brand of Acetaminophen Now Half Century Old
Tuesday November 1, 2005
Tylenol, a brand of non-prescription pain reliever acetaminophen, is 50 years old. Reportedly, 70 percent of households in the United States have tylenol on the shelf in their medicine cabinet and the medication is becoming even more popular. The growing popularity of tylenol is based largely on its reputation as being safe and on the withdrawal of prescription pain relievers Vioxx and Bextra, as well as FDA warnings regarding the risks associated with anti-inflammatory drugs.
