Monday September 19, 2005
At the second Vioxx trial, currently underway in New Jersey, a prominent heart and medication expert testified that "intermittent use of Vioxx or even a day's use of the painkiller could be enough to cause a heart attack". According to Dr. Benedict Lucchesi, a professor at the University of Michigan who helped develop the first pacemaker, Vioxx breaks down very slowly in the body, taking about 85 hours to clear out of the body. Dr. Lucchesi testified that the potential for serious adverse events was real. Read more about the second Vioxx trial from ABCNEWS.com.
