Requip (ropinirole) Approved by FDA for Restless Legs Syndrome

Requip (ropinirole) has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat moderate to severe Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Requip was first approved in 1997 to treat Parkinson’s disease. RLS is characterized by an urge to move the legs, usually accompanied by or caused by uncomfortable leg sensations. Typically symptoms begin or worsen during periods of rest or inactivity and are partially or totally relieved by movement.
