Can Hypothyroidism Cause Joint Pain?
Tuesday August 24, 2004
Joint problems caused by hypothyroidism can be difficult to distinguish from rheumatoid arthritis, according to MayoClinic.com. People with underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) often have joint and muscle problems due to low levels of thyroid hormone. In such cases, thyroid hormone treatment greatly improves the arthritis-like symptoms of joint pain and stiffness.

Comments
By hypothyroidism the chemical reactions in the body are slowed down and thus the production of many important substances, like for example the synovial fuid cabn be impaired. Therefore hypothyroidism can cause joint pain like many other symptoms.
