Maybe cherries is good for other things but I am sure helping to reduce gout attack is not one of it. As advise on what is publish I fail to see the result. Or may be lets look this from another point of view, it did not work for me.

My husband Lance always uses Cherry Concentrate when he feels gout coming on, and it works everytime. Our doctor is who told us to try it. It does work.

sarag,

red meat is not the only trigger for gout. any food high in purines will cause uric acid levels to go up and trigger gout.

I’ve also read that seafood triggers gout quicker than red meat.

you also might want to have your doctor check your kidneys. if you’re not eating a lot of purines rich food and are still getting gout attacks then your kidneys are not excreting uric acid as it should.

Been suffering with gout for about five years now. Male 50 years old. In the middle of latest attack right now. Have had attacks in both big toes at the last joint closest to the tip, and an excrutiating attack in my left knee this past december. Last week the latest attack occured at the base of my big toe, on the first joint.

Have been treating with indomethecine, and prednisone. Also been drinking cherry juice. The pain has not subsided one bit. Last evening I bought two pounds of fresh cherries. I ate about twenty of them at around 8pm. Went to bed with excrutiating pain that lasted until at least 11pm when I took oxycodone to help me sleep. Amazingly I woke up this morning with the pain reduced by about 80%! The only thing that I did different was eat fresh cherries last night. I know that the normal gout attack runs its course for me in about a week or so, and this attack may have been nearing its end stage anyway, but I think the absolute amazing reduction in pain overnight is due to the cherries.

There is so much conflicting information onwhat works and what foods to eat or avoid. One says to avoid caffeine and sodas and another sayd that studies prove that caffiene and soda reduce the risk of gout attacks.

Who the hell knows?

I will be eating cherries everyday for the rest of my life if I can. I will do whateve I have to to avoid more gout attacks and this seemed to be the first thing that really worked for me.
