CNN reports the results of a survey sponsored by GE Financial: The average annual cost of nursing home care is now about $57,000 and can reach as high as $166,700 in Alaska, which has the most expensive nursing home care in the United States. The survey of 2,218 skilled and intermediate care nursing homes in all 50 states evaluated the cost of assistance in a nursing home with activities for a person suffering a debilitation such as Parkinson's disease and found that costs varied widely, from a low of $69 per day at a nursing home in Oklahoma to a high of $720 per day at a facility in Alaska. Arthritis can have a huge financial impact too. Being a wise consumer and using common sense can help minimize the financial burden.
